According to ethologist and primatologist Frans de Waal, \u201cIt is time\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">to stop running after a human specificity. In my life, I have probably seen\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">some twenty-five proposals on human particularity. They have all been\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">rejected\u201d; \u201cit is a difference of degree not of nature.\u201d de Waal calls the\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">deniers, who remain many in science, \u201cneo-creationists,\u201d as they recognize\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">that we humans have evolved from primates but act as if this does not\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">relate to our brain or mind.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>From the book chapter: Life The long-held view within the Western world according to which humans\u00a0distinguish themselves from nonhumans through particular cognitive and\u00a0moral abilities is now falling apart.
